What makes the Engineering Entrepreneurship and Innovation program unique is the combination of three key components that allow you to learn how to successfully develop a technology or science-based business. These elements are:
Engineering Enterprise Project:
This is the core of the program. You learn a proven methodology for business creation. You work hands-on taking an idea through all the stages of technology development, transfer, and commercialization. Read more »
You also develop a support structure for success. As part of the Engineering Enterprise Project you work with an experienced Project Advisory Board composed of both business and technical mentors. You are also exposed to a large variety of networking and business development opportunities.
Entrepreneurial & Innovation Skills Development Modules:
You take five courses to develop business management and enterprise skills applicable to the development of your technology-based enterprise project. Learn about funding sources, protecting intellectual property, ownership structures, and much more. Read more »
Advanced Engineering Studies:
You also take courses that will extend your technical understanding of your chosen field. These courses are offered by various departments in the Faculty of Engineering so you'll have access to state-of-the art facilities and expertise. Read more »
The Results: Start-Up Expertise and a Master's Degree
Successful completion of the program means having the knowledge and skills that allow you to commercialize a technological or scientific idea into a successful business venture. It may even lead to the successful creation of a business. You will also earn a Master's degree in engineering entrepreneurship and innovation (M.E.E.I.):
M.E.E.I. Degree:
The M.E.E.I. degree designation is unique and developed specifically for this program. It indicates that the graduate has attained an M.Eng. level of proficiency in both engineering and in entrepreneurship. It is accredited by the Ontario Council on Graduate Studies.
