The Don Pether Incubation Centre
You are a start up looking to move to the next stage of maturity. You have
an idea/product/service that will be ready for the market in one
year and a management team in place to make that happen. If this
sounds like your business, you may apply for space in The Don Pether
Incubation Centre.
Candidates for the Incubation Centre should have an identified market for their technology, a business plan and are ready to seek investment. Candidates should also be open and receptive to mentoring and participating in a business development process with pre-determined milestones. In the application, the applicants must show how the Incubation Centre would enhance their chances in successfully launching the business.
Specifically, the company has to show that:
- At least one member of the team is a student or graduate (within one year) of the McMaster University MEEI or MTEI programs.
- The business is for-profit or non-profit in a technology field.
- The company has a proprietary product or service that can be commercialized within one year.
- The company is in the early stages of business development.
- The company has a well-written business plan.
- The company has a management team in place that can demonstrate their ability to handle both the technical and managerial aspects of the business and is willing to seek and accept assistance from XCEEi team and its network of service providers.
- The company has the ability to pay the Incubation Centre's minimal fees for the intended term of access to the Centre's services and facilities.
- The company has already been incorporated.
Terms of Access
- Access to the facilities will be reviewed on a six-month basis by the Review Committee. The review will involve:
- The submission of a document outlining the impact of having access to the Incubation Centre space for the previous six months and for the next six months.
- A presentation to the review committee will be required.
- The review team has the right to terminate access if the facilities are not being utilized according to the intended purpose.
- Health and safety concerns restrict the use of this space for the purpose of business development only. The space is not to be used as a laboratory space.
