Mentoring and Coaching

Mentoring is a crucial part of the MEEI program. Your Advisory Board is made up of formal mentors and coaches. You are also encouraged to seek out others who can play a role in your development, as needed. Your four-person Advisory Board consists of an Enterprise Advisor (a member of the full time faculty of the program and your academic supervisor), an Enterprise Development Officer, a Technical Mentor, and a Business Mentor. The Enterprise Advisor serves as the Chairperson for all Advisory Board meetings. Your Enterprise Advisor will work with you at the start of the program to help identify suitable Advisory Board members based on your preferences and on the nature of your Enterprise Project.

MEEI Mentorship Program

The MEEI Mentorship Program is a face-to-face mentoring program whereby mentors and entrepreneurs are matched to establish an ongoing mentoring relationship throughout the duration of your Enterprise Project.

The mentoring program revolves around four guiding principles: Relational Matching, Quality Relationships, a Sense of Belonging and Ownership for both entrepreneurs and mentors, aimed at ultimately establishing a successful mentoring relationship and at increasing the business success rate for the entrepreneur's enterprise project.

Mentors are made available to MEEI students only and are a mandatory component of the Enterprise Project.

Technical Mentors

Technical mentors will have expertise in the technology that is at the heart of your Enterprise project. Technical mentors usually have a research background in the subject area and will typically be able to provide some resources (such as equipment and space) to facilitate the prototype development associated with your project. They also know where to find additional technical resources when needed. These people are passionate about technology and its transfer to the marketplace.
