Director's Message
The Xerox Centre for Engineering Entrepreneurship & Innovation (XCEEi) is dedicated to educating innovators in how to launch and finance a successful start-up technology company.
Innovators face a common challenge: How does one determine the commercial viability of one's idea, and following that, how does one draw upon specific resources to transform one's idea into a revenue-generating vehicle? The Centre's Master's program provides students with hands-on experience in the key steps required to commercialize technology and successfully launch a new company.
An underlying goal for XCEEi has been to attract outstanding students from different fields of science and engineering who work together, with the appropriate support and technology, using an industry-proven commercialization methodology, to sharpen their entrepreneurial skills and explore new wealth creation opportunities.
Entrepreneurship profoundly influences our society and our program offers the opportunity for a new generation of scientists and engineers to learn enterprise creation processes. Our training can also lead to many unexpected economic benefits to our community and potentially the world.
Partnerships with technical mentors from Canadian universities, business mentors from the community, government commercialization programs, and high technology companies enrich our student's experiential learning experience. It has been inspiring and humbling to see how the generous support of our many partners contributes to the success of our program.
I have a deep optimism that with creativity, luck, intuition, and hard work we will develop a pool of successful entrepreneurs in Canada that will contribute to the growth of our economy.
